Amid the ongoing uproar and threats surrounding the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus “Padmaavat”, the makers have now dropped two new promos from the film featuring the lead actors Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and the antagonist Ranveer Singh.
In the teaser, Padukone as Rani Padmavati asserts that Alauddin Khilji's greatest defeat is not at the hands of the Rajput men but by the incarnations of Devi herself, the women of Chittorgarh.
Ranveer, on the other hand, sends shivers down the spine with his menacing dialogue, the first ones heard from the actor's character. His forceful battle cry is met with a rather calm response from Shahid Kapoor's character, of Maharawal Ratan Singh.
“Padmaavat”, which has gone through a whirlwind of controversies – starting from protests by the Karni Sena and set attacks, to complications with censor board that saw its name changed – and various legal issues with four states at one stage banning the film's release. The film is now scheduled to release January 25.
